Artist Profile: Born in Victoria in 1848, Marian Ellis Rowan travelled extensively, studying and painting the birds and wildflowers of northern Australia, Thursday Island and New Guinea, and spent 12 years in America illustrating books on flora by Alice Lounsberry. Marian Ellis' works are represented in the National Library in Canberra and in the Queensland Museum.
