This exhibition is an exploration of parallels between two vast continents. The images are a direct response from recent travels in East Africa and an ongoing discovery of Northern and Central Australia, observing and sketching wildlife and their natural environment. The images depicting human mannerisms of wildlife and the sensations of the landscape they inhabit, were developed from drawings and paintings executed at that time.
My love of drawing gives a tactile connection to these images. The combination of textures creating pattern and space and the use of symbols in my landscapes connect the land with its spiritual history extending this sensation. The resulting fragmentation shares with the viewer absorption on multiple levels, shifting from one focus to another, creating sensations of connection with the visual tapestry I experience when surrounded by this natural landscape.
